High pressure drop across a valve
creates excessive noise and deterioration of valve components. The
function of the Fluid Kinetics Gas Diffuser Silencer is to share
pressure drop with the valve, thereby substantially reducing this
noise and wear.
To accomplish
this pressure reduction the diffuser passes the flow through many small holes.
Correct hole size and spacing are critical to diffuser performance. It
is also important to match the diffuser flow capabilities to the individual
system requirements. Fluid Kinetics custom designs each diffuser for the
particular valve and piping system it is to be used with.
The design
system used to size the Fluid Kinetics diffusers is a result of hundreds
of tests run on prototype diffusers and diffuser/valve combinations. This
testing is complemented by experience in building over 4,000 diffusers as
component parts in Fluid Kinetics line of blowoff
silencers
.
Three
standard models are available; the type GDS and type GDI, which are used
immediately downstream of the system control valve, and type GDV, which is
used for a system discharge to atmosphere.
The Fluid
Kinetics diffusers can be used in conjunction with any manufacturer's valve
to achieve a quieter noise environment while reducing requirements for expensive
valve trim.
